Good results despite difficult market environment
Although some logistics segments experienced a decline, Geis Group managed to achieve good results thanks to growth in other areas. Geis offers a wide range of logistics services, allowing the company to diversify its portfolio and respond effectively to market challenges.
Difficult market conditions with falling volumes and low freight rates due to the ongoing economic downturn were particularly evident in the Air + Sea segment. Following the pandemic boom in 2021 and 2022, freight rates for sea and air transport companies dropped significantly.
The road transport segment also experienced stagnant revenues due to the economic situation, but remained at a good level overall. The warehouse logistics services segment, where Geis Group offers its contract logistics solutions, achieved double-digit revenue growth in percentage terms across the Group, driven by new projects and the continuation and expansion of existing contracts. Geis intends to continue to expand its warehouse logistics business in the future.
Continuing the transformation process
A year ago, Geis acquired a majority stake in Quehenberger Logistics. This acquisition, the largest in Geis' history to date, opens up many new prospects for both companies. With this acquisition, the Geis Group has taken an important step in its expansion strategy in Southeast Europe. “We have significantly expanded our presence in these markets, and our customers can benefit from Geis' professional network in this region as well,” - Adam Kwiatkowski says. The companies are jointly developing and implementing a joint strategy and promoting the “Best of Both” principle in all services offered. They are also jointly planning significant investments in sustainability, digitization and automation, as well as in land and buildings.
